Yes Man (2008 – Free Download) English 400 MB DVD-RIP

103 Min. | Comedy – Romance | December 2008

IMDB Rating: 6.8

Director: Peyton Reed

Staring: Jim Carrey, Zooey Deschanel, Bradley Cooper

Yes Man Review: “Yes Man” is surprisingly good, and here the punch line is everything. Jim Carrey is great in Director Peyton Reed’s hysterical romantic comedy. Zooey Deschanel is amazingly charming and quirky. In “Yes Man” Carrey plays Carl, who has been divorced for 3 years from Stephanie and has an uninspired job as a loan officer at Brea Savings in Los Angeles. Carl has pretty much checked out in life. To that end he says “No” to all invites. Carl even forgets to attend his best friend Peter’s engagement party. An old buddy invites Carl to a seminar given by Tony Robbins-like self help guru Terrence Bundley. Terrence invites Carl to accept the “covenant” to say “Yes” to everything in life. Reluctantly, Carl accepts. However, there is a point to the screenplay by Nicholas Stoller, Jarrad Paul, and Andrew Mogel based on the book by Danny Wallace. In a great conversation with Carl and Terrence later in the story Carl asks, “So this is bullsh*t?” Carl has been so not present in his own life. Obviously, saying “Yes” mindlessly to everything is ridiculous. What if taking on saying “Yes” as an operating practice is a way of practicing being enrolled in life.

The Fountain (2006 – Free Download) English 400 MB DVD-RIP

95 Min. | Drama – Sci-Fi | December 2006

IMDB Rating: 7.3

Director: Darren Aronofsky

Staring: Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz, Sean Patrick Thomas

The Fountain Review: In a word, The Fountain is warm. Aronofsky’s palette for his third feature is a swirling miasma of golden yellows, and it sets the tone for the work. ‘The Fountain’ is a life-affirming treatise on the eternity of love. Cynical hacks might decry this as a mawkish, facile rumination of saccharine proportions, but despite the sentimental themes, the film is never cloying, opting instead for a (sur) realistic portrayal of the nuances of one of life’s most powerful emotions. The casting was superb, Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman are outstanding in their roles, with both offering utterly believable performances. Weisz reveals the same depths she did in ‘The Constant Gardener’, portraying myriad subtleties in a role that could’ve easily been misplayed, starring as Jackman’s love throughout time. RocknRolla (2008 – Free Download) English 500 MB DVD-RIP

113 Min. | Action – Crime – Thriller | September 2008

IMDB Rating: 7.3

Director: Guy Ritchie

Staring: Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Idris Elba

RocknRolla Review: RocknRolla seems to be the beginning of the resurrection of Guy Ritchie’s career. Not to anyone’s surprise he does this with what he has been so potent with throughout his career, a British gangster film. If you’ve had any experience with Ritchie movies you know exactly what you’re getting into here, a comedic thriller. This of course may seem problematic, in Ritchie’s case it is not. The writing and dialog is fast paced and quite witty and entertaining to watch. RocknRolla as a whole maybe be a bit of a head scratcher here and there but the pay off is good and the idea is a bit of a parody of itself which is what makes RocknRolla so fun. Robin Hood (1973 – Free Download) English 350 MB DVD-RIP

83 Min. | Animation – Adventure – Comedy | December 1973

IMDB Rating: 7.6

Director: Wolfgang Reitherman

Staring: Brian Bedford, Phil Harris, Roger Miller

Robin Hood Review: As above. Don’t you ever wonder what the fascist, communist-hating Mr. Disney would have thought about bringing such an inherently socialist tale to the silver screen under his life’s work’s label? Robin Hood quite explicitly makes the rich and royal people of England out to be total crooks, and the poor workers out to be heroes in a Marxist fashion. “Stealing from the rich and giving to the needy.” Indeed. The adventurous Sherwood Forest hero Robin Hood who did so was my very first crush. Continue reading Robin Hood (1973 – Free Download) English 350 MB DVD-RIP
