L.A. Confidential Review

Give a collection of great actors a great story to work with and you are likely to end up with something rather special. Such is the case with L.A. Confidential. The boldface names jump off the page, Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Kim Basinger, Danny DeVito, James Cromwell and, in his first big-time role, Guy Pearce. And none of these big names are just mailing it in, here to collect a paycheck. They’re all on top of their games, undoubtedly helped to no small extent by the wonderfully nuanced and utterly intriguing story. This story takes place in 1950s Los Angeles but this is a side of L.A. Confidential most people don’t get to see.

[18+] Requiem for a Dream (2000 – Free Download) English DVD-RIP

102 Min. | Drama | December 2000

IMDB Rating: 8.4

Director: Darren Aronofsky

Staring: Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly

Requiem for a Dream Review: After watching Requiem for a Dream for first time, I thought to myself, “Wow, with some appropriate editing, this ought to be required viewing for high school students as it’s probably one of the best “anti-drug” presentations one could ever see. Young filmmaker Darren Aronofsky takes a depressing subject and makes it fun to watch, if that’s possible. However, I’m speaking in general terms because – warning – a couple of scenes are anything but fun to view. Aronofsky uses stop- action/fast forward techniques, sound effects, hallucination scenes, etc. All to make Requiem for a Dream a good movie for the senses. [18+] Oldboy (2003 – Free Download) Hindi-Korean DVD-RIP

120 Min. | Drama – Mystery – Thriller | December 2003

IMDB Rating: 8.4

Director: Chan-wook Park

Staring: Min-sik Choi, Ji-tae Yu, Hye-jeong Kang

Oldboy Review

Oldboy had such an impact that words are too little to describe that impact. Therefore this film is definitely in top 3 films ever made. It belongs there because it has a massive ingredient that a lot of films seem to miss out on, a divine plot. Even though the acting and screenplay are world class, the plot is really the cherry on the cake. When it comes to screenplay Park Chan-Wook is unique in his way of filming. The colours are so vivid and it seems like he wanted every shot to be a piece of art. If you like the shooting in ‘Oldboy’, have a look at ‘Sympathy for Lady Vengeance’, the third part in Park’s revenge-trilogy. It’s even superior to the camera-work in ‘Oldboy’. Don’t, however, expect a story like Oldboy’s, because you would be very disappointed. Continue reading [18+] Oldboy (2003 – Free Download) Hindi-Korean DVD-RIP

[18+] Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005 – Free Download) English 400 MB DVD-RIP

102 Min. | Comedy – Crime – Mystery | November 2005

IMDB Rating: 7.6

Director: Shane Black

Staring: Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Review: The immensely likable novel “Bodies are where you find them”, written by Brett Halliday, has been adapted for the screen by Shane Black and the result is one of the funniest movies playing around. “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” boasts an amazing dialog with some of the wittiest lines of any film in recent memory. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang pays a tremendous bonus to fans of the genre, which combines a detective story technique with some amusement and irony thrown in. The result is a fun time at the movies. Mr. Halliday pays tribute to those forgotten cheap pulp fiction novels that were so popular at one time in this country.
