The Dilemma Review: With a cast such as the one in “The Dilemma”, you know that you are in for a good movie. And sure enough, the movie delivered right on the money. The story told in The Dilemma is about the two best friends, Ronny Valentine (played by Vince Vaughn) and Nick Branned (played by Kevin James). Ronny sees Nick’s girlfriend with another man, and he wants to tell his friend, but can’t find the way to do it. And from there, the situations just escalates. The story is very interesting and compelling, and you really get yourself into the story and situations, so they managed to portray this quite nicely.
Aside from Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, The Dilemma also have big names like Jennifer Connelly (playing Beth), Wynona Ryder (playing Geneva) and Queen Latifah (playing Susan Warner) on the list. These people were superbly cast and were doing really good jobs with their characters, as were Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. Most memorable, however, was Jennifer Connelly. She really submerges herself deep into her character, and she shines brightly on the screen. As for being a comedy, well the movie wasn’t overly funny. In fact there were only a few scenes that will make you laughing. But it isn’t the comedy aspect of the movie that is the most important ingredient. What is important about the movie was the aspect of friendship and how to overcome obstacles.
“The Dilemma” is a movie well worth watching, not only for its good storyline, but also for its impressive cast. It is not really a typical romantic comedy, it is just a tad beyond that, a romantic comedy with real-life problem situations. Thumbs up for The Dilemma!
